Source review, 19 October 2026: compare roundtrip and open-jaw on the same dates, passengers, baggage and terms. Check Biman directional baggage, Saudia Zamzam wording and connections; no live fare, guaranteed savings or daily schedule is established.
This guide is for Bangladeshi Umrah travellers choosing between a Jeddah roundtrip, two-city arrival/return, and a connecting itinerary. It helps you compare the flight you can actually buy—not a headline fare stripped of bags, transfers and change conditions. No live fare basket, ticket purchase or airport connection was tested for this review.
Quick Answer — Checked 19 October 2026: compare DAC–JED / MED–DAC and DAC–MED / JED–DAC with a same-city roundtrip on the same dates and passenger basis. Open-jaw may avoid returning to your arrival airport, but it is not automatically cheaper or better. Biman's published baggage varies by direction and fare class; Saudia's opened terms do not establish a universal extra Zamzam allowance. Check the actual ticket and connecting carriers before paying. [1][2][4]
1. Which route shape fits your Makkah and Madinah plan? Open-jaw means arriving in one city and departing from another. In these examples, the journey between Jeddah/Makkah and Madinah is a separate surface leg; do not assume that leg is included in the international ticket. Saudia's terms specifically distinguish airfare from surface transport unless it supplies the service. [2]
- Jeddah first — DAC to JED, then MED to DAC: compare this if Makkah is your first stay and Madinah your last. Price the airport-to-Makkah transfer, intercity journey and Madinah airport transfer separately. The return can be connecting rather than nonstop; read every segment. - Madinah first — DAC to MED, then JED to DAC: compare this if you prefer Madinah as the first stay. Include the later journey to Makkah and the final transfer to Jeddah airport. Do not infer a religious exemption or medical benefit from this routing example; consult the separate Ihram and older-traveller guidance for your circumstances. - Same-city roundtrip — DAC to JED and back, or DAC to MED and back: keep this in the comparison. It can suit your dates or total cost even with a return surface journey. A roundtrip does not compel a bus journey of a fixed duration; compare the actual ground options and the final night's location.
Neither route dictates a fixed number of days in either city. Choose the sequence against your visa/season conditions, intended stays, confirmed assistance needs and actual ticket availability. The main DIY guide owns current entry/permit boundaries; this flight comparison does not establish permission to enter Saudi Arabia or a transit country.
2. How do you check nonstop flights and a connection? Start by checking Biman and Saudia for your dates, but do not assume either carrier operates every city pair daily or that a Madinah return is nonstop. The Biman timetable page could not be retrieved during this review; no date-specific carrier itinerary was captured. This is not evidence that a flight is cancelled. No current daily frequency, aircraft, terminal, onboard prayer space or fixed flight duration is certified here.
Read the result as a complete itinerary: departure/arrival dates and local times, overnight date changes, each airport and terminal, operating carrier rather than just the marketing airline, stops, layover and total elapsed time. A route label or airline logo is not enough. Recheck the carrier's travel alerts and flight status before departure.
For a connection, ask whether the flights are on one through ticket or separately issued tickets, whether bags are checked through, who handles a missed connection and whether airport/terminal changes require immigration. A single payment or booking reference alone is not proof of a protected connection. As a specific example, Emirates' Dubai page distinguishes journeys booked with its connecting partners from separately booked flights, which may require baggage collection, immigration and a visa, or a conditional paid baggage-transfer service. That is an Emirates/Dubai example, not a rule for every Gulf hub. [4]
A one-stop quote may be lower or higher than a nonstop quote. Compare meals, seats, baggage, transit costs and any extra hotel night; no family savings amount is established. Do not buy a baggage bundle solely because an airline is described as low-cost—buy the allowance your actual bags require.
3. What baggage does your exact fare include? Biman: the opened sector table lists Economy Bangladesh-to-Jeddah at 30 kg and Jeddah-to-Bangladesh at 50 kg. Those are published directional examples, not a promise for every fare or for Madinah. The same page gives special G-class baggage of 20–23 kg depending on sector and S-class with no checked baggage. It also contains generic per-piece sections and an Important Notice with differing per-piece wording: resolve any mismatch with Biman for your ticket rather than turning a total weight into one very heavy bag. [1]
Biman's published Economy cabin example is one piece up to 7 kg, 56 x 36 x 23 cm including handles, pockets and wheels. Confirm the ticketed cabin allowance and current restrictions too. The retrieved paginated table did not expose a Madinah row, so this guide does not assign Madinah a checked-baggage number. [1]
Saudia: its opened Conditions of Carriage make baggage subject to ticket conditions. The old baggage URLs redirected to a branded-fares page, not a verifiable current baggage table. Do not assume two 23 kg pieces, a universal cabin allowance or identical outbound/return benefits from an older search snippet. Read the selected fare and ask Saudia to resolve any inconsistency before payment. [2][3]
Air Arabia, as one specific alternative: its page offers 20, 30 or 40 kg checked options, subject to route availability and fees. The 20 kg option is one piece; 30/40 kg can be split into up to two pieces. This is not evidence of a live DAC–Saudi itinerary or a required bundle on another airline. Its page also prohibits carton boxes on Bangladesh flights; check special Zamzam packaging separately below. [5]
4. Is Zamzam automatically free and extra? No universal extra-piece entitlement is established by the sources opened here. Saudia's current Conditions of Carriage mention one 5-litre bottle for guests travelling from Jeddah/Madinah and state that a 5-litre bottle counts as part of the allowable checked baggage; extra bottles are excess. Do not turn the word “free” within an allowance into “additional to every ticket's bags.” This page does not settle all packaging, visa, departure-terminal or connecting-carrier conditions. [2]
No Zamzam-specific allowance was found in the four returned chunks of Biman's public baggage page. That does not mean Biman refuses Zamzam or that no separate policy exists. It means this review cannot label a bottle a free extra item for Biman; obtain the conditions for your flight. [1]
Air Arabia publishes one free 5-litre bottle from Saudi Arabia, purchased at authorized airport sales outlets and in sealed packaging designed for air transport. Apply those stated conditions, then confirm how the special package is accepted on the actual Bangladesh-bound connection alongside its carton-box restriction. Do not generalize this benefit to Saudia, Biman or all budget airlines, or invent a USD surcharge. [5]
Detailed Zamzam, dates, gold and Bangladesh customs questions belong to the separate guide; neither an airline baggage allowance nor this flight article establishes a customs exemption.
5. How do you compare flight quotes on the same basis? This is an editorial comparison workflow, not a tested airline checkout or guaranteed booking procedure.
Step 1: Fix the comparison basis. Write down dates, permitted flexibility, trip length, passenger ages, cabin, actual bags and assistance needs. Check the main DIY guide's visa/season limits before committing to non-refundable travel.
Step 2: Search three route shapes. Request a same-city roundtrip and both open-jaw directions, where available. Record every flight segment and the separate surface leg; do not compare a two-flight trip with an incomplete one-way quote.
Step 3: Compare ticket and connection structure. For each candidate, record operating carriers, total elapsed time, local arrival dates, terminals, one through ticket versus separate tickets, baggage handover and who deals with disruption. Verify transit/entry requirements for the actual passport and itinerary. [2][4]
Step 4: Build one total per candidate. Add the quoted airfare and taxes, seller/payment charges, required baggage/seats/meals, any transit or overnight costs and all airport/intercity transfers. Record the currency and quote timestamp. Use the same passenger basis; do not compare a per-person headline with a family total. No BDT fare band or fixed exchange rate is supplied here. [2]
Step 5: Read the selected conditions before paying. Keep the fare-family rules for changes, cancellation, no-show, fare difference and seller fees, then resolve baggage/Zamzam and assistance questions. Saudia's fare-family comparison shows differing change/cancellation conditions; its terms warn that unused or out-of-sequence coupons can affect the remaining itinerary. Do not skip a flight to alter the route without arranging it with the carrier. [1][2][3][5]
Step 6: Confirm the issued journey and recheck it. After purchase, check the actual e-ticket, names, dates, airports, flight coupons, baggage and any confirmed assistance against what you intended to buy. Save confirmations privately. Before travel, recheck carrier notices, flight status and departure/check-in instructions; a saved quote is not a ticket or proof of unchanged operation. [1][2]
Choose the option whose total, conditions and workload your party can manage. Without matched dated quotes, this guide cannot prove that open-jaw or a connection saves money or a particular number of hours.
6. Which guide should you use next? Use the main DIY guide and Umrah hub for the wider visa/permit sequence and your own quote-based budget; use the reviewed hotel/Haramain guide for the separate surface journey and actual bag/access checks. A flight landing time is not a guaranteed train connection or hotel arrival time.
Use the stopover guide only if you intend to enter Saudi Arabia on that route; an ordinary airside connection is not automatically a Saudi stopover-visa application. Use the Ihram guide for that separate religious task, not a fixed crew-announcement countdown. The detailed customs guide is a separate review lane, not newly certified here. Optional flight comparison links are a starting point: verify the seller, ticket structure and full conditions before purchase. Never send passport scans, OTPs, full booking references or usable boarding-pass barcodes into public chat.
7. Frequently Asked Questions
Is an open-jaw Umrah ticket always cheaper?
No. Compare the same dates, passenger/baggage basis and full trip costs for both open-jaw directions and a roundtrip. It may avoid returning to your arrival airport, but no matched quote basket or guaranteed savings is established here.
Does every Biman Saudi ticket include 46 kg?
No blanket allowance is verified. The published Jeddah Economy examples are 30 kg outbound from Bangladesh and 50 kg returning, with fare-class exceptions. Madinah was not visible in the retrieved table. Use the exact ticket and resolve per-piece conditions with Biman. [1]
Does Saudia give everyone a free extra Zamzam bottle?
Do not assume that. The opened Conditions of Carriage discuss one 5-litre bottle from Jeddah/Madinah and count it within allowable checked baggage. Ask for the conditions applying to the departure terminal, visa and every carrier on your actual journey. [2]
Do all low-cost airlines charge for Zamzam and require the same baggage bundle?
No. Air Arabia's published example includes a conditional free 5-litre bottle and different checked-baggage options. Its Bangladesh carton rule also needs checking with special packaging. Other airlines and fare products require their own checks; no generic surcharge applies here. [5]
Does one booking reference prove my connection is protected?
No. Confirm through-ticket versus separate-ticket structure, baggage transfer and responsibility if a flight is delayed. Emirates' Dubai transfer page illustrates how arrangements differ; it is not a universal rule for every hub or airline. [4]
How much time should I leave between landing and a train or another flight?
There is no universal verified buffer in this guide. Ask the relevant carrier/operator about the actual terminals, immigration, bag collection/recheck, assistance and deadlines, and allow contingency for your party. A scheduled arrival time alone does not guarantee the onward journey. [2][4]
